One of my favorite things about Fall is the aroma of pumpkin spice and cinnamon in yummy cakes and pies that are baking in the oven. My kitchen is the most colorful room in our house with yellow, teal, red, and a touch of orange. I love the Pioneer Woman décor and have many of her items in my kitchen.
In keeping with those colors, I found these really pretty cotton kitchen towels in Spice on Amazon to use for this project. With this set of 5, I made a couple for us and have some left to make as gifts!
For this project I used:
* Cutting Mat
* The lovely cotton kitchen towels in Spice
I chose these two SVG files from DesignBundles.net. They offer a large variety of designs at free and affordable pricing. These two designs come with a Premium License which includes Commercial Use, for those of you creating with a small business.
* Pumpkin Wreath - I added a "W" in Times New Roman font. This is a really nice design that could be used on a number of different items, such as decorative pillows, flags, wood signs, and towels.
* Pumpkin and Fall Quote Bundle - This bundle contains 25 Fall quote SVGs at an amazing price! While there are many wonderful designs available for free and to purchase on this site, I always try to look for bundles that I will get the most use out of. As with the other file, there are so many things that can be made with these designs. In addition to those listed above, how about adding one of these quotes as an adhesive vinyl decal to a glass jar candle?
* Matte Black Fashion Film HTV, sold in our online shop. This is an excellent quality vinyl with a soft, light weight feel.
* Weeding tool
* Heat Press
* Teflon Sheet
Once I located and purchased the designs of choice, I downloaded them to my PC and uploaded in Design Space. I then inserted them into a new project and welded each design into one piece. Next, I set the width on both designs to 5" and allowed the program to adjust height proportionately. I then added the Times New Roman "W" to the pumpkin wreath , adjusted size to fit, and welded into the design. I sent this to be cut and made sure to select the mirrored setting before cutting.
Once the images were cut, I weeded the excess vinyl. (metal dental pick tools work great as weeding tools). I turned my press on to the recommended temp/time setting for my vinyl. In order to make sure things are centered appropriately on the products I am working with, I always fold the item in half and press to get a center crease line, then lay open and flat on the press plate. Using the same technique, I take the weeded decal and fold it backwards (non sticky side back) and crease the top and bottom carrier sheet to form a center line. This is so much easier than having to measure every time and its very important to me that everything lines up correctly. With both the towel and the decal having a center reference line, it was easy to place the decal on the towel correctly, cover with a Teflon sheet, and press. Since this is a warm peel vinyl, I was able to remove the carrier as soon as it was pressed and the towels were complete.
They look so nice and I can't wait to start on the others for gifts!
